Unfortunately, as is the case in many parts of Africa, the risk of Malaria does exist,
and visitors are recommended to consult their doctors or chemists, well in advance before
arriving in Tanzania.
There are many differing views as to the merits or demerits of prophylaxis versus treatment.
Either way it is a matter for the individuals and their medical advisors,
but we strongly recommend one or the other is used.
Of course every mosquito bite does not herald instant Malaria, but one of the most obvious ways of ensuring that whichever route that you have chosen is effective, is to minimise the risk of being bitten. Hence our recommendation of repellant and suitable light clothing for the evenings.
